Overview

Cost effective marketing, ideally free.

With the rapid growth in individuals wanting to promote themselves or their goods, including part time workers, network marketers and small / medium businesses, there is a huge demand for truly cost effective marketing, ideally free.

This article covers how to make social sites like MySpace.com self promoting for FREE.

I will be covering

In this marketing article, I will be covering how easy it is to make any ethical social site, including any associated profile, blog, group or club, self promoting for free, and the benefits in terms of cost savings, free advertising, marketing and promotion it brings.

I have included information on how a site, be it used for business or personal use, can become self promoting. This article specifically covers making profiles, blogs, groups and clubs self promoting for free.

Self promotion for other types of sites

Additional applications for this technology include making other sites self promoting including websites, blogs, forums, groups, clubs, auction sites, online shopping malls, affiliate sites, multi level marketing (mlm) sites, etc. Click here for more information on making non social sites self promoting.

Why attract more friends?

To answer this we should first look at some of the typical reasons why people use social sites and then consider the benefits of making them self promoting.

Some typical reasons why individuals and businesses use social and networking sites include:

  • Socialising with others.
  • Business networking.
  • Attracting new customers.
  • Individuals wanting to promote themselves or their information.
  • Individuals wanting to market their products.
  • Artists wanting to promote their artwork.
  • Singers, bands and groups wanting to promote themselves or their music.
  • Network marketers wanting to promote their business opportunities
  • Internet marketers wanting to promote their products.
  • Advertising products or a business.
  • Directing visitors / traffic to a website.
  • Promoting events.
  • Building a fan base.
  • etc.

Social sites are all about meeting others, networking, sharing ideas and information.

This is mainly done by creating a profile and building up friends, also using blogs, groups / clubs, forums and polls. Building friends is a process of visiting other people's profiles and letting them visit yours. Becoming friends requires mutual confirmation. The bigger your circle of friends the more people you can socialise with, and the more opportunities you have to share your thoughts / information.

Just as with personal or business websites you can make make your social profile, blog, group / club self promoting. This is a great way to accelerate your network of friends.

Building friends should be a Win-Win

The more people who see your profile, blog, group / club, the more people are likely to request to become your friends or to subscribe to your blog, group / club. If you are using a social site to promote a business, having a wide circle of friends will provide additional promotion and more income. It is however important to remember that being friends should be a Win-Win and helping your friends is also important. We will expand on one way you can do this shortly.

Why would you want to make a site self promoting?

Ideally making a site self promoting will provide the following key benefits:
  • Increasing the number of new site visitors (traffic) for FREE.
  • Increasing the rate at which your network of friends increases.
  • Utilizing the site to advertise, market and promote itself 24 x 7 for FREE.
  • Creating additional adverts and incoming links automatically, again for FREE.
  • To save on advertising / marketing and promotional costs and to increase profits.
  • Attracting people from both inside and outside the social network to view your profile or blog, and possibly become a friend.

What is a self promoting site?

A self promoting site, is a site that simply includes a feature that will help it to promote itself. I will be covering how this can be done for FREE shortly, but first let us look at the benefits of self promotion.

How does a self promoting site work?

To make a site self promoting, you need to provide a benefit that a proportion of the site visitors will want to use and that will have a significant benefit to the site. Some of the giants on the internet have used this marketing technique to develop their businesses, a classic example is Yahoo who gave away free email accounts. In general the technique that they used is called viral marketing, and involved adding a promotional link to each email sent via their system advertising their free email accounts.

For individuals, part time workers, affiliate marketers, mlm marketers, network marketers, groups, clubs, charities and small, medium enterprises, duplicating the strategy used by Yahoo and others is not practical for a number of reasons, but there is a solution that has been developed to allow any site to be promoted using an integrated marketing strategy and it can be set-up and used for FREE.

This system works by providing the opportunity for anyone, also to make their site(s) self promoting, providing FREE advertising and FREE marketing.

With the high growth in both personal and business websites, and blogs there are millions of site owners who want to promote their sites, and millions more who are promoting affiliate sites, mlm, online shopping malls, auction shops etc.

Even if some visitors do not have a business or site of their own, they will know a number of friends who do.

Using a combination of some viral marketing techniques and automatic site networking, the EMS system can generate an exponentially increasing flow of visitors, advertising and links to any site. This is done automatically by the EMS system which creates new pages including an advert that links directly to the site being promoted and a registration process that directs new visitors to the site.

As the site network automatically expands under a self promoting site it can direct hundreds of thousands of new visitors to the site.

Visitors are like GOLD they are valuable.

The EMS system is designed to automatically build a network, directing a progressively increasing flow of visitors to your site. As the visitor numbers increase the potential to gain financially from the visitors also increases. As visitor numbers increase there is an increasing argument for directing the visitors to a more commercially orientated website.

Redirecting visitors

The EMS system allows you to redirect your network visitors to any web page of your choice via your personal control panel. This means that if you are using a social site to build a business and later create your own website you can simply redirect all your EMS traffic to your new website via your EMS control panel.

Controlling visitor numbers.

The EMS system includes an exponential growth element. This means that new traffic will start moderately and progressively increase over time as your EMS network develops.

Reducing and controlling visitor numbers (traffic).

This may not be the first thing you think about when you are looking for more visitors. However, there is a potential problem on personal sites and small business sites where too much traffic can be a problem. There are a number of options you can use including redirecting traffic, reducing traffic or increasing traffic handling capabilities.

One of the features built into the EMS system is a traffic management control element so that the traffic can be reduced if the number of visitors becomes too high for a particular site or a business cannot handle the order enquiries.

This traffic control only affects the new visitors directed to the site by the EMS system and does not affect any traffic from other sources such as search engines or internal searches from within a social site, etc.

The traffic from the EMS system can be instantly adjusted at any time from 0 to 100% of the site's EMS network traffic. This allows the traffic to be reduced or stopped either for a short period (when taking a break / vacation) or to limit the maximum number of visitors.

NOTE If the traffic is being reduced because too many order enquiries are being received, the traffic can be increased again when additional order processing facilities have been added to the business.

Exponential growth.

An indication of the additional visitor numbers that can be achieved, using a self promotion system, incorporating exponential growth, is shown in the table below. The table is based on 10 other sites being registered under each site in the network, level 1 being sites directly registered under the site being considered.

Level Visitors Total additional visitors
11010
2100110
31,0001,110
410,00011,110
5100,000111,110
61,000,0001,111,110

Note, the vast majority of the 1,111,110 visitors indicated will be new visitors to the site and will have been directed automatically to the site by the self promotion system. With a system based on exponential growth, visitor numbers do not increase instantaneously, they start modestly and accelerate over time, providing time to expand the business in line with new demand. For sites where too much traffic could be a problem, a traffic control system is available, making this system suitable for even the smallest sites.

Some additional benefits of this system include helping to improve the site’s search engine ranking / listing position and the traffic you receive from the search engines.

Why use a social site or blog to promote a website?

There are a number of reasons why using both a social site and a website can be beneficial, but principally it is all about directing traffic to where it will be of must benefit. Some of the social sites have millions of users which represents a huge potential market, many of which are potential customers or interested parties.

VISITORS ARE LIKE GOLD THEY ARE WORTH A FORTUNE

Typical reasons for using both a social site and a website include:

  • If the website cannot be made self promoting. Typically because:
    • It is an affiliate site.
    • It is a shopping mall.
    • It is an auction site shop that restricts content like eBay.
    • etc.
  • Increasing the traffic directed to a website.
  • Increasing the amount of advertising.
  • Blogging can be a major benefit, that may not be available on the website.
  • Tapping into a wider customer base.
  • etc.

The advertising savings of using the EMS system for self promotion can be substantial

The cost of advertising varies dramatically. As an example "Pay Per Click" (PPC) or Adwords advertising that directs visitors to a site, at $0.50 per click would cost $5000.00 per month for a compaign based on 10000 clicks per month. As there is no charge for using the EMS system the savings can be substantial. It is important to remember that the traffic from the EMS system does take some time to initially build up as the network develops and alternative marketing should be used in the early stages but the long term benefits of free traffic are substantial and the sooner a site is set-up to be self promoting the better.

Summing up

There are significant advantages in making a site self promoting, both in terms of generating additional traffic and the potential savings on advertising, marketing and promotion costs. If your interests are only for socialising or networking making your site self promoting can help build your network of friends more rapidly.
